Starck 'AK47' Gun Table Lamp

"'Happiness is a hot gun': Starck's range of lamps for Flos come in a variety of sizes. The table version takes the form of a facsimile of an AK47, dipped in bronze gilt and topped off with a tasteful lampshade."

Folks, what is the deal here? Why are products being manufactured to look like firearms? Have we become that violent, or am I just not getting the joke?
